I should prelude this post by saying I am as picky as they come when it comes to calendar apps. Unlike most of Google's stock apps, I could never find myself liking the calendar. The design seemed average, I don't like scrolling month views and found it lacked some features. And so, pre-Digical I regularly looked for 'that' app. I had tried all the regularly recommended ones and many more, from Business Cal, aCalendar, GoCal and predominantly Jorte, but they were far from what I was looking for.

Considering this, I unsurprisingly stumbled across DigiCal very soon after it first hit the Play Store. It was exactly what I had been looking for. A beautiful, holo, stock-like app with all the essential features (bar one major one) and page based month views. The one thing it lacked? Text month view.
This brings me to the next great thing about this app. The developer. I contacted him regarding the things I'd love to see in the app and sure enough, he delivered, and has continued to add many requested (and unrequested!) features to the app since.

Boasting Google calendar sync (of course!), a wide range stunning and functional widgets, various calendar views, weather info, location support, useful notifications and many more features all wrapped up in a beautiful and fast design there isn't much more you could ask for from Digical.
And before you are put off by the price, let's be real about this for a sec. Your average traditional wall calendar would typically set you back £10 each year. Here you're paying £4 for life, for every Android device you own, with a great developer and constant updates and new features. You can't argue with that now can you?

DigiCal
To keep it simple, anyone using a calendar app on Android that isn't Digical should at least check out the free version. It's one of those few apps that has now reached a point where I don't really have a bad word to say about it and is absolutely better than both the stock app and other third party options.
